Terrence Mann, Artistic Director
 
Terrence Mann is the founding Artistic Director of the Carolina Arts Festival. Terry began his lifelong commitment to North Carolina when he enrolled in the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, graduating in 1978. In 1980, he moved to Broadway as the Ringmaster in Barnum and, since then, Terry has starred in a string of Broadway hits. He recently returned in the starring role of Javert in the mega hit Les Miserables on Broadway, the role he originated 16 years ago, earning a Tony nomination. He also originated the roles of Rum Tum Tugger in CATS, the Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and Chauvelin in The Scarlet Pimpernel. He starred on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show, as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Saul in Rags, and the narrator in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. Terry has been nominated twice for the Tony awards and for the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Actor in a Musical. He has appeared in several feature films, television movies-of-the-week, series, and pilots. He was nominated for an Emmy for the daytime drama As The World Turns. He served as the Artistic Director of the regional North Carolina Theatre for 14 years, directing and starring in several NCT musicals in Raleigh. Currently, he is in his third year as Artistic Director of The Lost Colony, the country’s longest running outdoor drama in Manteo, North Carolina. Terry and his wife, award-winning dancer and actor Charlotte d’Amboise, live in New York.
